Creative Critical Reflection Prezi

Candidate Number 5028

CCR Draft #4

How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware and online-in this project?

Throughout my project, I used Microsoft Publisher to create my cover, table of contnets, and 2-page article spread. I also used Microsoft word to write the actual article. When using Microsoft publisher i was able to create a realistic look for the magazine that no other software could have offered.
Digitally, i produced an oline instagram account where my foloowers can see sneakpeaks of the magazine and upcoming spreads, as well as a link they will take them to sign up for my newsletter.
Overall, technology played a huge role in creating this magazine. Without it, i would have not been able to successfully create this project.

CCR Draft #3

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

In the beginning of this project i did not know how to work any of the sources given to me. Once everything was explained i got the hang of it. I was able to utilize Microsoft publisher for my entire project. Using Microsoft publisher, i was able to create my cover, table of contents, and 2 page article spread. I also learned how to set up interviews and how to create a proper magazine layout. Due to this experience i was able to take good photos, write an article, communicate with other, and just focus and take my time with things.
The overall writing process taught me how to listen to my peers and the model i was interviewing. It also taught me how to manage my time and write an article properly. I will use this new learned information with everyday school activities. I also had to do background research for my magazine by learning about other influential fashion magazines and how they are made. This research taught me the fundamentals of a magazine so that i could make my own.
Finally, I learned how to take charge and schedule photo shoots. I was able to pick the look of my magazine as well as my model. Together, we chose a location, outfit, and mood for the magazine and executed it perfectly.

CCR Draft #2

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

By creating my magazine December issue, i was able to use marketing techniques that would help in selling my magazine as well as a digital distribution plan for the magazine. To involve the younger audience i was looking for, i created an Instagram page for 'Belle' the magazine. The actual page included a link to a sneak peak into the magazine as well as behind the scene photos of the model. The Instagram page also includes a look into each issue so that potentially readers see what they are getting. Overall, i do believe that my magazine will be successful because Instagram is such a huge platform that teenagers will like to indulge in. Another way my magazine will be distributed is by internet ads and paid partnerships. My magazine promotes self-love and will continue to grab the eyes on strong women by promoting this messages online and off.
To discuss more on the partnership, i would partner with strong and empowering women to get my magazine known and everywhere. The final traditional distribution plan would to work with a newsstand owner to get my magazine in paper and open to the public so that my audience can hold a copy of the magazine. This plan will also allow the owner of the newsstand to make money.

CCR Draft #1

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Throughout my research i looked at many magazines to determine my use of conventions. I was able to mimic the style of many fashion magazines and the formats to follow the use of conventions. For my cover, i followed the format of teen vogue when creating my title. I named my magazine Belle in white with a cursive font and slanted a little bit to give it a more realistic fashion magazine style. another way i used conventions was the way i styled my model and how i positioned her. When taking my cover photo, together, we decided to go somewhere that was very picturesque with modern architecture. Cammy, my model is seen posed more towards the left side of my cover with all the subtitles around the model. The subtitles are a bit bigger than the little sneak preview underneath. I utilized wordart to make my fonts match many influential fashion magazines.
Finally, i decided to include some form of branding in the magazine to match the style of other magazines. These conventions helped with the marketing process and the distribution process. The layout  of the table of contents mimicked many popular magazines and i made it very modern to appeal to younger ages. The 2 page article spread mimicked the layout of many fashion magazines as well, by including pictures, interviews, and the article itself.

Quarter 3 submission

My cover didn't change much. All i had to do was move the titles out of the way to see the model more and make her the focus piece.
My table of contents had the same problem. I moved some things around to make sure that the titles weren't in the way and they weren't covering her face
My first article page didn't need any changes so i left it alone, however on my second page i had to move the page number around and add the instagram handle.

My Marketing Plan

For my magazine, which is targeted towards teenage girls, i plan to go on social media and promote the magazine. Belle is a beauty and fashion magazine that includes many new and cool trends as well as self-empowerment.
First, i will promote my magazine by putting a picture of my model on a billboard and the title of the magazine. This will be seen by all the passing cars and get their attention. This will allow for a broader group of people to see the magazine and buy it.
The second thing i will do is, make an Instagram account for Belle magazine. I will post little sneak peaks of the magazine to create some mystery so that people have to buy it. I will also include snippets of whats on the actual magazine.
The last thing i will do is have a famous person endorse my magazine at an important event, like a gala. This will get peoples attention because a famous person endorsing my magazine will get people to want it.

Revisions

There was a couple of small revisions that had to be made. For example, i have to move some of the sub article titles to the side to make sure they are not  covering the photo. It was also suggested that i make the font smaller to make it look more official. For the table of contents, i have to rearrange the titles so that they are out of the way and not covering the model.  The final little revision is to put the page number on the another side of the page just like it is in magazines.

Use of Conventions

My product uses conventions of my genre of the overall look and feel of my magazine and article as well as the layout, picture and color selections. The magazine was designed to mimic very popular fashion/women magazine. The pictures are very bright and very modern. Each photo was photographed in different locations to show off the area i live in.
It represents social groups by primarily focusing on women empowerment and just women in general.
